I’m so excited for the incoming Oath Taking Ceremony because this is the only way to initiate my nursing career. For the successful examinees in the June 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination as well as for those who have not taken their Oaths Of Professional in the Manila area it was held on August 18 and 19 (Tuesday and Wednesday) respectively with morning (8:00am) and afternoon (1:00pm) at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Here are some instructions and reminders for the June 2009 Nursing Board Exam Passers for Oath Taking Ceremony:

1. The tickets are available starting on July 29, 2009 (Wednesday) at Philippine Nurses’ Association (PNA) located at 1663 F.T. Benitez Street, Malate, Manila.

2. For school without schedule, inductees may buy tickets on a first come first serve basis.

3. The Board of Nursing wishes to restate that the assignment for oath taking will be according to pre-determined (schedule of school assignment) which will serve as basis for the schedule of tickets to be issued only by the Philippine Nurses Association on weekdays.

4. Receipts will not be entertained, only valid ticket shall be allowed entry to SMX

5. The candidates for the oath taking ceremony must wear their gala uniform, white duty shoes, nurse’s cap, the hair not touching the collar, without earring or accessories, and without corsage.

6. On the day of oath taking
• SMX opening hour
- 6:30 am for the morning ceremony
-12:30 pm for the afternoon ceremony
• SMX Entrance
- have 7 entrances to SMX
- Topnotcher and their parents use a main entrance
- Below 7 years old are not allowed to attend
• Foods are not allowed inside convention hall.
• First come, first serve, no reserved seats.

Classifications of member

1. Regular membership is conferred upon a nurse who has paid the required fee for the current year.
2. Life membership is conferred upon a nurse who has been a regular member for three (3) consecutive years and who shall have paid the required fees.
3. Honorary membership is conferred upon a person who is not qualified under Article II, Section 2, paragraph a and be hereof, but who has rendered distinguished service to the Association in the attainment of its goals subject to the approval of the Board of Governors.
4. Associate membership is conferred upon nurses residing abroad upon compliance of requirements for membership.

Benefits

1. Obtain professional advice or assistance in matters related to nursing and conditions affecting the practice of the profession;
2. The PNA shall be sponsoring some meetings, accredited CPE seminar workshops, conferences and other educational activities.
3. The member will accommodate copies of Philippine Journal of Nursing;
4. The beneficiary/beneficiaries receive death benefits through the Mutual Aid Program;
5. You can accommodate a moral and legal assistance in administrative and labor cases whenever possible;
6. If you are qualified, you must be recommended by the PNA to have a local and international scholarship, nursing award or else travel grant.
7. Acquire to Education and Training Center (ETC), auditorium, library and dormitory facilities;
8. For those who work overseas they receive Professional guidance.
