We are very much informed that lots of nurses are actually migrating to other country. This is really common especially for those who are skilled nurses that will surely be given the chance to go abroad because of their ability. We are having shortage in terms of the quality service in our medical industry because of this matter. We are even aware that even some of the doctors are finding their ways to be a registered nurse just to go abroad.

But if you are going to look at it closely you will see that there are lots of nurses who are actually unemployed. There are hundreds of schools that are producing thousands of nurses every year. It is really frustrating to know that good nurses have to go abroad just to get the income that she needs.
The sad part of this story is that there are lots of people who think that students who want to take up nursing are just after for money. There are now wrong notions in the Philippines that nurses are looking for a work experience so that they can go to other country easily.

The truth with this matter is that our country is actually having fewer funds when it comes to the supply of income with the numbers of nurses that we have. Many hospitals have a limit on how many staff they are going to hire because they are thinking about the payment to its man power. Sadly, the ratio of staff nurses to patient today is now in average of 1:50. Most of the hospitals are actually surviving with the help of student nurses.

It is indeed unfair to think that nurses are just after for money. One of the reasons to justify is that our student nurses are spending 4years in college with lots of things to pay. Some of the courses are having payment if they are having on the job trainings but our student nurse need to pay the hospitals just for their OJT.

Lots of people are going to other country because there are now good available jobs in the Philippines. This is also the picture for many nurses since they are just looking out for ways to supply the need of their family.

I am hoping that our country will come to its progress that nurses don’t need to go abroad and serve other nationality just to have the right income.

The hospital is the place where in life is being restored and being saved. But ironically the hospital environment is also one of the dangerous places where in you can acquire diseases. The diseases that are acquired in the hospital are called as the nosocomial diseases.

Among the many infections that you can acquire in the hospital the airborne pollutants are the one that should be given much attention. Even the CDC (Center for Diseases Control) emphasized the importance of the atmosphere in the hospital that should be kept clean and safe not only for the patients but for the healthcare worker as well.

The problem starts because of the effort that the hospital is doing to save the air-tight in the hospital in order to preserve the energy. With this reason the air flow is decreased and the microorganisms are just around the corner in the hospital.

The poor quality of environment in the hospital can do a big thing with regards to the rehabilitation or the recovery of the patient. One of the best examples is the SARS problem in year 2002-2003. This shows the vulnerability of the modern hospital against the fight of airborne pollutants.

The good thing is that there are purification systems that most of the hospitals can use today. One of the system that they can use is the HEPA technology that purifiers the air in the hospital. The use of this technology will filter automatically the 99.97% of microbes in the hospital. The CDC have given this much attention after the incidence of SARS. There is also UV technology that is used as the final defense of the hospital against airborne pollutants.

Since the indoor air is in constant contact with the patients and the healthcare worker this means that there should be more attention with regards to air purifiers in the hospital.

As you have experienced when you are a student, nursing education is not just a lesson learned in the classroom but a learning that is experienced in the hospital as well. After school days and after you have passed the board exam there are lots of training that you can undergo in order for you to enhance your skill.

There are lots of trainings and seminars that you can undergo as a newly board passer. But most of the new nurses are looking for an opportunity to undergo IVT training. This training can be acquired in some of the hospital under a professional’s supervision.

If you are aiming for a work inside the hospital, having different certificates can give you an edge to some of your co-new nurses who are also looking for a job position. Remember to put in mind that experience can really do a great thing for your resume.  Since there is big competition for nurses you need to exert an effort to make yourself a competitive nurse.

The seminars that most of the hospitals are looking in your resume include the foundation training for a registered nurse. These includes Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid seminar, Basic life support program, advanced cardiac life support program, and other seminars that are concerning with the different operation of machines in the hospital. These seminars usually require a certain amount of money but this is surely worth it. You can use it for your future experiences in the hospital. This can also give you confidence since you are knowledgeable and experienced to the job that you are entering.

With this kind of record you will surely give the hospital you are applying for a good impression. So invest your effort in trainings opportunities and create your stable professional path.

For someone who has experienced working in the hospital the exposure to stress is no longer new for them. Hospital settings can somehow give them high stress most of the time. If you are somehow interested in finding new job that will give you a chance of working with less stress then read on.

One of the thing that you can take as an example is the job of an office nurse. The good thing with this job is that the nurse are secured that the help of the doctors will always be available and she don’t need to make a decision that is concerning about a matter of life and death situation. The result of the November 2009 Nursing Licensure Examination is now published. Though the result of the exam is low in percentage this still produced a number of more than 37,000 new registered nurses in the Philippines. This will now be a new competitor for the past nurses who have passed theboard and yet struggling for a job position in any hospital in the Philippines.

Given with this fact most of the registered nurses are going into the different kind of jobs that are not inline with their profession. I have seen many of the new registered nurses that are working in the fast food chain as service crew or working in a sales agent in a Department store. Take note that they are registered nurses. Some of them have even spent thousands of money just for their review center and not to mention the hardships and the money they spent in the time when they are studying.

I am very much aware of the hardship of finding a job position in any hospital. If you are one of the new boar passer then the possible position that you can take is to be a volunteer in a public hospital. Being a volunteer will only give the registered nurse a hundred of salary every month. This is the main reason on why most of the nurses in the Philippines are turning to call center agents as their full time job. The earnings of a typical call center agent can’t be compared to the earnings of a typical nurse in the hospital. If you are going to look at it closely the job of the call center agent can be acquire given with a two months certificate training. While our nurses even spend five years of schooling just to have their licensed in their hands. The jobs of the call center agents are indeed hard as well especially if you are talking about the graveyard schedule. But compare to the daily stress that our nurses are facing each day in the hospital this is absolutely no big deal.

This is actually the reason on why some of the nursing graduate are kissing their licensed goodbye and turning to call center agents as their main source of income. This is the real picture of the nursing profession in the Philippines and unless you go and take your flight off towards other country it will be difficult for you to adjust your way of living.

Most nurses are accepting overtime because of the extra income it can offer. Overtime can be so hard and will even result to physical exhaustion. But nurses can say no to overtime since they are thinking of the extra fees it can give.

The good thing is that nurses can now have a way on how they can earn extra money. The only thing that you need to do is to write down your knowledge and sell it! How is this possible? Let me discuss it clearly.

If you are aspiring to be a nurse someday, the first thing that you need to consider id what kind of nurse you will be. Since there are different kinds of nurse in the medicine field you need to know what kind of nurse you are aspiring so that you can strive harder and have your focus. Nursing jobs may differ depend on the kind of responsibilities or areas in where they are assigned to. In order for you to succeed in the field of nursing you have to know your expertise or your strength.

One of the options that you can have in nursing field is to become a nursery nurse. If you love kids a lot this can be one of your great option. This kind of job is also in demand in other countries. What is home health aid? Well the home health aid were mainly employed by home health care services, nursing and residential care facilities and social assistance agencies.
Home health aides spend their duties at patient’s homes of residential care facilities. This type of profession due their role or working with patients who need a long term care. Most of the home health aides are work for their patients for a couple of month or even years.

This is under the direction of nursing or medical staff; they provide health-related services, such as administering oral medications. They also supervise under the registered nurse, physical therapist, or social worker who keeps records of the services they perform and record each patient’s condition and progress. The aides report changes in a patient’s condition to the supervisor or case manager. Anyway, most of them are not staying on the patient’s house because they work on a number of different patients but each job lasting a few hours, days, or weeks and they are often visit different patients on the same day.

Home health aides are demand because they gain jobs faster than other aides, and the patients are can safe must money because treatment on the hospital is really expensive. Home health aides served their duty for those patients who are bedridden, elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons live in their own homes instead of health care facilities.

As like on nursing aides, the home health aides may provide basic intervention such as: monitor and taking vital signs (pulse rate, blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate), promote and assist health wellness of the patients (taking a bath, change non sterile dressing, assist on walking, provide skin care and give massage ), provide a medicines as prescribe.

Home health aides are only trained by the registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, or experienced aides although this is not generally required to have a secondary diploma. But there Federal Government has guidelines for home health aides whose employers receive reimbursement from Medicare. The Federal law requires a trainee to pass the competency test covering a wide range of areas. And the said test will require the trainee to exploit their career because they have a license.
