What awaits you after graduating in a nursing school?

When you graduated from a nursing school this is only the start of your real journey as a nurse. After graduating you will be open to the real world and you will be separated by the guidance of your clinical instructor. The first step that you need to do is to take the board exam of nursing. Once you passed the exam you will now have your own licensed. Every step that you will take in the hospital will not be under the accountability of your instructor anymore. It is your own licensed that is at stake if you made some errors.
Once you have set your first day in the hospital as a working staff you will realized that the things that you have learned in the school is just half of the things that you need to know in the hospital. This is also different with your on the job training when you are still studying. When you are a student nurse you are only assigning to a single or two patients. You are also given patient that is easy to take care. The work of a registered nurse compare when you are a student nurse can be overwhelming.
You should also be familiar to admitting and discharging a patient. This is one of the important tasks in the hospital. Being familiar with the important medicine is also important. You will administer the medication that is order by the doctor by your own. You will need to adjust as you will be doing this by your own.
It is also important that you learned to value the skill of time management. A good nurse knows how to prioritize. You need to budget your time and be able to met all the needs of your patient within your shift. There are also instances that you should perform the same task at the same time. Multi tasking can be done in nursing as long as you are good in instructing your patient.
Some of the things that you will encounter in the hospital are not all taught in the hospital. You need to be observant and able to adjust with the kind of environment that you are in. After graduating in a nursing school you need to learn the skill of time management, multi tasking, able to know your priorities and you should be a keen observer as well.

Nursing care plan is very important for the profession of nurses. It is the list of plans of care that should be given to the client. This is one of the foundations of nursing care. Without the use of nursing care plan there will be part of the nursing care that will not get enough attention. There are cases that this nursing care plan document is lacking of much attention. In line with this, there are now lots of changes with the quality of nursing care plan. The discipline of the health care establishment must be well implemented with the nursing care plan.
In order for you to make a good nursing care plan, you need to start with a good and accurate assessment with your patient. If you have established a good data about the status of your patient, you will surely get the right nursing care plan. The first thing that you should give focus is in the problem of the patient. By obtaining the problem of your patient, you need to know of which one is your priority. The principle of ABC (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation) can be a good use concerning this matter. If you already have the list of problem, you need to know the things that a nurse can do to make the condition of your patient better.
Nursing care plan must present a good goal as well. This is the heart of the nursing care plan. When it comes to the goal in nursing care, you can have either short term or long-term goal. The goal must be S-M-A-R-T (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bounded).
NANDA is a good help especially for the nursing students who are only beginners in writing nursing care plan. Nursing care plan is a good help for nurses because it helps to achieve the quality of healthcare service that must be provided to the patient.

The profession of nurses is indeed rewarding and a challenging profession in the industry. There are lots of hardships that you need to undergo before you can be called as a nurse. The good thing with nursing profession is that it is flexible and you can specialize in different fields. The profession of nurses is in high demand even in different countries. This is because old population is getting bigger especially in the U.S. We are having large numbers of elders and that’s why we also need large numbers of nurses that will supply care for them.
The best advice that I can give is to imagine you are working in the stress days in the hospitals. If you think you can handle it then go for it. Most of the students picture themselves not with the profession but with the benefits or the salary that they can somehow gain when they get a job in nursing. If you don’t have the interest in nursing or you don’t have a heart that cares for a patient then nursing profession will be totally hell for you. I must say that it’s time for you to quit and find your life under different profession.
But if you are somehow interested in becoming a nurse you should familiarize yourself with the different fields that you can take. You should be able to know what kind of care you want to provide for people. You can work in a hospital, rehabilitation center, nursing homes, and other facilities that need the care of nursing. Thinking about the environment on where you want to work is also important. This can help you have a motivation on the things that you want to pursue.
The important thing is that you should have a caring heart in order to stay long in the field of nursing. If you are good in skill and even if you have the intelligence but you don’t have a caring heart then you will not probably last in nursing career.
The truth is that there will be shortage of nursing in year 2020 according to the economist. This is the actual reason on why accelerated nursing program is very common on nursing universities today. It is still advisable to go on and pursue your dream job even outside the country. So, have your dedication and determination at hand and pursue your dream job in nursing!
